Obery's 25 Not Enough For Men's Basketball

Box Score

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Senior guard Anthony Obery (Roselle, N.J.) scored a career-high 25 points and set a Felician College record for three-point accuracy, but the Golden Falcons lost to Molloy College, 90-81, in non-conference men's basketball action Sunday afternoon at Harvey Hubbell Gymnasium. The contest tipped off the second and final day of the University of Bridgeport Classic.

Obery became the first player in Felician history to make six three-point field goals in a game without missing. The previous record of 5 for 5 was shared by Devon Young and Richard Fegins. The overall Golden Falcon record for threes in a game is seven, owned by Jason Romer and Marcin Ziobron.

The game features 10 lead changes, mostly in the early going. A three by Felician junior guard Owen Barnes (Teaneck, N.J.) at the first-half buzzer sliced a six-point Molloy edge to 39-36.

The Golden Falcons (0-2) scored the first six points of period two. With the score tied, 46-46, and 15:10 to play, a jumper by Molloy senior John Petrucelli (Hicksville, N.Y.) touched off a 11-3 run and gave the Lions the lead they would never relinquish. Molloy led by as many as 11 points, and was still up, 77-72, at the 1:22 mark when Felician began to foul to extend the game. The Lions made 13 of 18 attempts from the charity stripe in the final 66 seconds and easily held on.

Molloy junior guard Matt McLeod (Greenlawn, N.Y.) recorded 29 points, including 16 for 17 at the foul line, and added 12 rebounds. Petrucelli amassed 23 points and six steals as the Lions (1-1) put five scorers in double figures.

Frontcourtman Jeyvi Miavivululu (Paterson, N.J.) came off the bench to post 13 points and eight rebounds for Felician.
