Box Score BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – Senior swingman Antoine Obery (Roselle, N.J.) scored 28 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and made the go-ahead free throws with 0:06 remaining in regulation to lift Felician College to an 85-83 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference men's basketball victory over host Concordia (N.Y.) College on Tuesday night at the Meyer Athletic Center.
The victory allowed Felician (11-14, 8-9 CACC) to tie Concordia (12-15, 8-9) for fourth place in the CACC North Division, and the division's final league tournament berth that comes with it, with one game remaining. However, Felician now owns the tiebreaker advantage over the Clippers by virtue of having two wins against Concordia this season. The Golden Falcons would qualify for the playoffs with a home victory versus Nyack College on Saturday or a Concordia loss to Caldwell College that day.
On Tuesday, Felician senior Anthony D. Green (Jersey City, N.J.) canned a three-point field goal to tie the game at 71-71 with five minutes, 13 seconds, left to play. All of the night's seven lead changes then ensued, culminated by consecutive lay-ups from Obery and younger brother Anthony Obery (Roselle, N.J.) to put the visitors up, 83-80, at the 0:49 mark.
Clipper leading scorer Norman Pope (Washington, D.C.) drained a tying three-pointer at 0:39, but out of a Clipper time-out, Felician ran down the shot clock and isolated Antoine Obery, who got into the lane and got fouled. After he made both free throws, Pope caught the inbounds pass and attacked the basket, but the Golden Falcon defense contested his lay-up attempt, which sailed over the rim. The rebound fell to Concordia senior Lavor Morris (Bronx, N.Y.), who could only get up a rushed jumper which missed as time expired.
Antoine Obery made 10 of 11 field-goal attempts, including 3 for 4 from three-point range. Felician sophomore forward J.R. Pringley (Elizabeth, N.J.) continued a break-out month of February with 25 points, seven rebounds and four assists, and Jarryd Horsley-Fordham (Orange, N.J.) and Anthony Obery netted 11 and 10 points, respectively, as the Golden Falcons shot 49 percent from the field.
Pope topped all players with 24 points and five assists. The Clippers received 22 points and eight rebounds from Argelix Gil (Brooklyn, N.Y.) while Brandon Whitaker (Harlem, N.Y.) (7-12 FG), who played 36 minutes despite not starting, turned in 17 points and six boards. Concordia led for the entire first half, took a 48-40 edge into halftime, and was ahead by as many as 12 points with 13:07 to play.
Felician offset a 58 percent performance at the foul line (14-24) by shooting 53 percent from three-point range (9-17). The Golden Falcons also registered a 22-9 edge in second-chance points.
Pringley is averaging 14.3 points and 4.0 rebounds in six February games after entering the month with figures of 4.8 points and 1.6 rebounds per contest.
