Box Score PHILADELPHIA – Felician College junior frontcourt players Jarryd Horsley-Fordham (Orange, N.J.) and Will Thompson (Teaneck, N.J.) earned the first double-doubles of their careers on Saturday afternoon, but the Golden Falcons went down to an 82-56 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference men's basketball defeat at the hands of host Holy Family University at the Campus Center Gymnasium.
Felician (4-8, 2-3 CACC) was looking for a measure of revenge against the team that eliminated it from the 2013 CACC Tournament. Instead, the Golden Falcons looked sluggish while playing for the first time in two weeks. The visitors shot 27 percent from the floor, including having 10 shots blocked, and committed 20 turnovers. Entering the day leading the CACC in three-point field-goal percentage, Felician was only 2 for 17 (12 percent) from distance on Saturday.
Holy Family (9-5, 3-2), which never trailed, jumped out to leads of 8-0 after 7 ½ minutes and 20-10 with 14 minutes gone by. The Tigers tallied the final six points of the opening period to bring a 37-23 edge into intermission. HFU senior Ervin Ezell (Deptford, N.J.) led all players with 11 first-half points.
The Tigers took full control with a 12-3 run covering the first five minutes of the second half. After that point, Felician never moved closer than an 18-point deficit (with 12:59 to play), and HFU's biggest bulge came at 82-49 following an Xavier Williams (Philadelphia, Pa.) three-pointer at the 2:31 mark.
Holy Family senior guard Khiry Hankins (Cincinnati, Ohio) came off the bench to top four double-figure scorers for his team with 16 points in 21 minutes. Hankins shot 4 for 8 from long range, leading the Tigers to making 11 threes on the day. Ezell finished with 14 points, eight assists and three steals.
Thompson totaled career highs of 13 points and 11 rebounds and Horsley-Fordham had 10 points and 11 rebounds. The Golden Falcons, who wasted a 50-40 edge on the boards, received 12 points and a season-high eight rebounds off the bench from freshman guard Tim Massado (Wilmington, Del.). Felician has lost its last four contests.
