ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – Dominican (N.Y.) College used an 8-2 late second-half run to pull away from visiting Felician College for a 90-83 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over the Golden Falcons on Tuesday night on the Hennessy Center's Coach Baxter Court.

Dominican junior forward Nick Smith (Middletown, N.Y.), the CACC's second-leading scorer, shot 12 for 17 from the floor and recorded 29 points and seven rebounds. Junior forward J.R. Pringley (Elizabeth, N.J.) netted 22 points to top Felician (6-18, 4-13 CACC).

The Golden Falcons scored the first three points of the game, but after Dominican assumed a 15-5 advantage, the visitors never led again. Felician sophomore Lamine Cooper (Willingboro, N.J.) tallied the final five points of the first half to pull his team to within 40-33 at halftime.

With Dominican leading, 57-49, the Golden Falcons rallied for eight consecutive points, including six by Jamal Reid (Newark, N.J.), to knot the game at 57-57 with 11:37 to play in regulation. The Chargers' A.J. Burton (New Rochelle, N.Y.) and Johnathan Brown (Central Islip, N.Y.) teamed up to score nine of the game's next 11 points, but Felician would not go down quietly.

On two occasions with fewer than five minutes to play, the Golden Falcons came back to within a single point of their hosts, the final time at 74-73 at the 4:12 mark. But the Chargers extended to 82-75 with 1:35 remaining, and sealed the victory by making 8 of 10 free-throw attempts in the final minute.

Burton recorded 19 points and six rebounds in 24 bench minutes. For Felician, Reid finished with 14 points and senior guard Anthony Obery (Roselle, N.J.) put up 13 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
