Box Score RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician University trailed, 47-19, at halftime in its 85-59 non-conference men's basketball loss to host St. Thomas Aquinas College on Wednesday night at Aquinas Hall.
Junior forward Jordan Compas (Yonkers, N.Y.) scored 11 points and classmate Kennedy Chukwuocha (Willingboro, N.J.) added 10 points for Felician (1-1). Sophomore swingman Justin Reyes (Haverhill, Mass.) paced St. Thomas Aquinas with 12 points and eight rebounds.
Felician, which never led, fell behind quickly, as STAC (2-1) made three-point field goals on two of its first three possessions. After 5 ½ minutes, the Spartans led, 14-0. The hosts extended a 15-point lead with 8:06 remaining in the first half to 39-14 at the 3:43 mark on a three by Jonathan Lawton (Williamstown, N.J.), and took their largest lead of the half into the locker room on Reyes' backcourt steal and lay-up just before the halftime buzzer.
The Spartans shot 60 percent from the field in the opening period, as compared to 32 percent for Felician. The Golden Falcons also committed 10 first-half turnovers, which STAC converted into 18 points.
Felician scored the first nine points of the second half, and later got as close as an 18-point deficit on two occasions. But an 18-3 Spartan run gave the hosts their largest lead of the night, 83-50, with 3:04 to play.
STAC's Chaz Watler (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Aaron Cust (Uniondale, N.Y.) joined Reyes with 12 points each. Spartan freshman Daniel Wilson (Baltimore, Md.) (4-4 FG) finished with 10 points and five rebounds. Felician junior Tim Massado (Wilmington, Del.) netted nine points, and teammate Jeyvi Miavivululu (Paterson, N.J.) totaled eight points and seven rebounds.
The Spartans held a 40-28 rebounding advantage for the game, including 15-6 on the offensive glass.
