Box Score PHILADELPHIA – The Holy Family University men's basketball team turned in a strong defensive effort to pull away for a 75-48 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over visiting Felician University on Friday evening at the Campus Center Gymnasium. Holy Family (16-4, 10-1 CACC) is ranked No. 5 in the most recent NCAA Division II East Region media poll.
Senior guard Reggie Charles (Philadelphia, Pa.) led four double-figure scorers for the Tigers with 16 points,, six rebounds five assists, and three steals. Senior swingman Xavier Williams (Philadelphia, Pa.) totaled 15 points off the HFU bench. Junior guard Tim Massado (Wilmington, Del.) led Felician (6-12, 3-8) with 10 points.
The game's first half featured seven lead changes. The Tigers took the lead to stay on a three-point field goal by Derrick Stewart (Philadelphia, Pa.) with five minutes, four seconds, left in the period. The shot was part of a 20-4 run with which the hosts closed the half over the final 6:25 to take a 34-22 lead into the break.
Felician trailed by that same 12-point margin with 18:32 to play following a lay-in by senior Jeyvi Miavivululu (Paterson, N.J.). But Charles and Hunter Wysocki (Howell, N.J.) canned consecutive three-pointers to start a 9-0 Holy Family spurt, and the Golden Falcons never drew closer than a 16-point deficit for the rest of the night. HFU led by as many as 33 points with 2:14 to play.
Felician shot 25 percent from the floor for the game and committed 19 turnovers. The Tigers also outscored the Golden Falcons, 17-9, at the foul line. Marvin Crawford (Edison, N.J.) recorded 11 points and nine rebounds for Holy Family, and Wysocki finished with 10 points, nine boards and four assists. Stewart, the three-time defending CACC Defensive Player of the Week, amassed nine points, 11 rebounds, and four blocked shots. The Tigers finished with six blocks and 11 steals.
Senior guard Jamal Reid (Newark, N.J.) had nine points, eight rebounds and six assists for Felician. Miavivululu scored six points and grabbed 11 rebounds.
