RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician University surrendered large scoring runs in the latter stages of each half while losing its non-conference men's basketball game to visiting Queens (N.Y.) College, 67-51, on Tuesday night at Job Gymnasium. The game was the final one at home for Felician in calendar year 2016.

Freshman guard Zamir Wright (Newark, N.J./University) was the only double-figure scorer for the Golden Falcons (6-6). Wright netted a season-high 17 points and added five assists. Junior guard Tyrone Hall (Brooklyn, N.Y./Aspiration) came off the bench to pace Queens with 16 points and 12 rebounds.

Felician scored the first eight points of the game, including three-point goals by Jamar Redmond (Roselle, N.J./Abraham Clark) and Wright on its initial two possessions. The Golden Falcons took their largest lead, 22-12, on a Wright jump shot with 10 minutes, 16 seconds, remaining in the opening period.

Still behind, 24-15, with 9:43 left in the half, Queens (6-5) scored the game's next 12 points, taking the lead for good on a Diego Maldonado (Valley Stream, N.Y./Valley Stream South) three-pointer with 2:24 to play. Maldonado tallied the final five points of the period as the visitors carried a 32-26 edge into halftime.

Consecutive threes by Kevin Buron (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Kennedy Catholic) and Hall gave Queens 38-27 advantage with 16:56 to go in regulation time. The Golden Falcons chopped their deficit to four when Yvens Monfleury (East Orange, N.J./American History) converted in the paint at the 11:48 mark, but the Knights embarked on a 14-2 run to take control. Felician never came closer than a 12-point spread in the final seven minutes.

The teams combined to attempt 58 three-pointers, with Queens draining 12 of 31 attempts (39 percent) as compared to 30 percent for Felician (8 for 27). Hall was 4 for 7 from distance.

Maldonado finished with 13 points and Tyree White (Brooklyn, N.Y./Science Skills Center) totaled 10 points and six rebounds for the Knights. Monfleury and Felician junior Gjaimeir Stanford (Wilmington, Del./Howard) each amassed eight points and five rebounds.
