Box Score ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – Felician University senior center Jeyvi Miavivululu (Paterson, N.J.) scored 17 points, including the 1,000th of his collegiate career, and grabbed 11 rebounds, but the Golden Falcons lost to host Dominican (N.Y.) College, 64-55, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference men's basketball action on Wednesday night on the Hennessy Center's Coach Baxter Court. Dominican (10-16, 9-8 CACC) gained a split of the teams' two-game season series.
Miavivululu entered the night needing five points to reach the milestone, and did so with a successful jump shot with four minutes, 23 seconds, left to play in the first half. He is the eighth Golden Falcon male to score 1,000+ points in the program's 20-year history.
Felician senior guard Jamal Reid (Newark, N.J.), who played all 40 minutes, also scored 17 points, matching Miavivululu for game-high honors. Reid added five rebounds and four assists. Senior guard Glenn Scalia (River Vale, N.J.) (5-8 FG, 4-6 3FG) topped the Chargers with 14 points.
Dominican, which never trailed, led, 32-24 at halftime. With 7:27 to play in regulation, the Chargers were still ahead by nine, 49-40, following a three-point field goal by Joe Clinton (Pearl River, N.Y.). But Felician scored the game's next six points. After a pair of Gerrel Irvin (Bay Shore, N.Y.) free throws ended the streak, Golden Falcon sophomore Marko Kozul (Astoria, N.Y.) buried a three to pull the visitors to within 51-49 at the 3:30 mark.
However, the Chargers seized control with a 9-2 run, highlighted by a dunk plus a free throw from Irvin at 1:26. Dominican sank 5 of 8 free throw attempts in the final 1:12, enough to secure the victory.
Clinton finished with 12 points and six assists, and Altine King (Brooklyn, N.Y.) had 10 points and eight rebounds off the bench for the Chargers. Irvin netted nine points in 17 minutes. Dominican shot 45 percent and canned nine threes, while holding Felician to 34-percent shooting and two three-pointers.
Dominican jumped out to a 11-0 edge after three minutes of play. Felician closed to within 26-24 in the latter stages of the first period before allowing the Chargers to score the half's final six points.
With the loss, Felician (9-16, 6-12) was eliminated from CACC playoff contention. The Golden Falcons conclude their season by hosting Caldwell University on Feb. 23 at 8 p.m. in Rutherford.
