Box Score RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Sophomore forward Terrell Spaulding (Paterson, N.J./Eastside) produced 24 points and seven rebounds and freshman guard Debon Bright (Woodland Park, N.J./DePaul Catholic) scored a season-high 17 points to lift the Felician University men's basketball team to a 79-58 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over visiting Georgian Court University on Saturday afternoon at Job Gymnasium.
Felician (7-11, 4-6 CACC) canned 15 three-point field goals on the day, one shy of its school record. It was the most threes the Golden Falcons had made in a game in just over nine years. Spaulding was 6 for 11 from beyond the arc and Bright 4 for 6, helping the hosts to a 43 percent rate from distance.
Bright's previous season high was nine points, set in a road loss to Goldey-Beacom College earlier this week. On Saturday, he reached double figures with more than 10 minutes remaining in the first period. By halftime, he had netted 14 points, sparking Felician to a 43-19 lead at the break. His 17 total points came in 22 minutes off the bench.
After totaling five first-half points, Spaulding spent the beginning of period two making sure Georgian Court would not mount a comeback. He canned four three-point field goals in the first four minutes of the half as Felician built its largest advantage, 51-23, with 17:57 to play. The Lions cut a 27-point deficit at the 11:38 mark to 17 with 6:35 remaining, but never came closer.
Felician placed five scorers in double figures. Senior guard Tim Massado (Wilmington, Del./St. Elizabeth) turned in 12 points and five rebounds. Freshman forward William Phelps (Linden, N.J./Linden), making his second start of the year, produced 11 points and six boards, and senior guard Bryant Webb (Parlin, N.J./Sayreville War Memorial) had 10 points and six caroms.
Sophomore center Nikola Vujovic (Novi Sad, Serbia/Notre Dame Prep) scored 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds to pace Georgian Court (1-16, 1-8).
Felician put an end to a six-game losing streak.
