Men's Basketball Falls Behind Early, Shoots Poorly, In 67-52 Loss

PHILADELPHIA – Felician University shot a season-low 29 percent from the floor in its 67-52 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference men's basketball loss to host University of the Sciences on Saturday afternoon at Bobby Morgan Arena. USciences has won six of its last eight games.

Felician (9-14, 6-9 CACC) fell 1 ½ games out of fourth place, and the final playoff berth, in the CACC North Division with four games remaining.

Devil senior guard Jon McGill (Folsom, Pa.) led all players with 24 points, eight rebounds, two blocks and three steals. Senior forward Kennedy Chukwuocha (Willingboro, N.J.) amassed 14 points and six rebounds for the Golden Falcons.

Felician, which never led, fell behind, 18-4, after six minutes of game action. The hosts stretched to a 32-14 edge with four minutes, five seconds, remaining in the first period, and carried a 36-23 bulge into halftime. McGill scored 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the floor in the opening half.

The Devils netted the first five points of period two on a Will Gregorits (Burke, Va.) lay-up and a McGill three-point field goal. With 15:20 to play, they grew their largest lead, 47-26, on a Brendan Crawford (Haddonfield, N.J.) layup. Felician closed to within an 11-point deficit on two occasions, the latter following a Terrell Spaulding (Paterson, N.J.) three-pointer at the 4:25 mark, but USciences scored the next six points to secure the victory.

Gregorits totaled 12 points and Crawford added 11 points and seven rebounds to lead the Devils. Junior Flo Da-Silva (Moorestown, N.J.) turned in six points, eight rebounds and seven assists. Freshman Debon Bright (Woodland Park, N.J.) tallied 13 points and junior Gjaimeir Stanford (Wilmington, Del.) scored nine for Felician.

The Golden Falcons return home to take on Concordia (N.Y.) College on Tuesday at 8 p.m. in Rutherford, N.J.
