Men's Basketball Upends Regionally-Ranked Dominican, 83-60

Box Score

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Senior guard Gjaimeir Stanford (Wilmington, Del./Howard) scored a game-high 21 points and made the 100th three-point field goal of his NCAA career to lead Felician University to an 83-60 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference men's basketball victory over visiting Dominican (N.Y.) College on Tuesday night at Job Gymnasium.

The result puts Felician (9-11, 6-6) in sole possession of fourth place in the CACC North Division with seven league games remaining. The top four teams in each of the CACC's two divisions at season's end will advance to the conference playoffs.

Dominican (14-7, 8-4) entered the night ranked No. 7 in the most recent NCAA Division II East Region media poll. The Golden Falcons snapped a three-game losing streak.

Stanford, who shot 8 of 13 from the floor overall, became the 11th player in Felician history to make 100 three-pointers. He reached the milestone in his 43rd game as a Golden Falcon. Stanford also owns a combined 97 threes in two NJCAA stops.

The Golden Falcons received 19 points from sophomore guard Zamir Wright (Newark, N.J./University HS). Felician junior swingman Terrell Spaulding (Paterson, N.J./Eastside) amassed 18 points, 11 rebounds and four assists for his fifth "double-double" of the season and the 13th of his career.

Felician took the lead for good with just over three minutes gone by. With eight minutes, 11 seconds left in the first half, the Golden Falcons moved ahead, 27-13, on Stanford's milestone three. Dominican scored the next four points, but the hosts closed the period on a 16-5 run over the final six minutes for a 43-22 halftime advantage.

The Golden Falcons pushed their edge to 26 following a three-point play by Mansfield Warren Jr. (South Amboy, N.J./St. Mary-Elizabeth) with 17:51 showing on the game clock. The Chargers sliced their deficit to 17 on a bucket and foul shot by Daniel Grant (Middletown, N.Y./Middletown) at the 13:59 mark. But Felician outscored Dominican, 8-1, over the next five-plus minutes of scoreboard time.

A Spaulding three made it 69-40 at 7:21. With 5:49 remaining, Wright canned a trifecta for Felician's largest bulge of the night, 77-44. The hosts still led by 30 at the 3:06 mark before Dominican closed with a 9-2 spurt for the final margin.

Felician held the Chargers to 30.8-percent shooting while rolling up a 50-35 rebounding advantage. Junior forward Rahsaan Williams (Brooklyn, N.Y./Chelsea CTE) totaled eight points and eight rebounds, ending his streak of six consecutive double-doubles.

Grant netted 16 points and Michael Richardson (Hackensack, N.J./Hackensack) added 12 for Dominican.

Felician begins a stretch of four consecutive road games by facing the Jefferson Rams on Saturday at 4 p.m. in Philadelphia.
