Box Score

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician University began the second half with a 22-6 run and went on to a 90-80 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference men's basketball victory over host Georgian Court University on Saturday afternoon at the GCU Wellness Center. The game marked the end of the 2017-18 regular season for both schools.

Felician (12-15, 9-10 CACC) moves on to the quarterfinals of the CACC Championship tournament. It will travel to South Division champion Goldey-Beacom College for a 7 p.m. tipoff on Tuesday. Georgian Court (5-22, 5-14) sees its campaign come to an end. Saturday's result did not affect the fortunes of either squad.

On Saturday, the Golden Falcons survived a 31-point effort from GCU senior guard Juwuan Carter (Paterson, N.J.). Lion junior Nikola Vujovic (Novi Sad, Serbia) scored 22 points. Felician countered with 24 points from senior guard Gjaimeir Stanford (Wilmington, Del.) (6-11 3FG), while junior swingman Terrell Spaulding (Paterson, N.J.) scored 23 points with eight rebounds.

The first half featured six ties and nine lead changes. GCU never led by more than three points, but the Golden Falcons were ahead, 40-26, following a three-point field goal by Rahsaan Williams (Brooklyn, N.Y.) with five minutes, 14 seconds, left in the period. The Lions chipped away, with Carter scoring nine consecutive points in a 90-second stretch, and trailed just 45-43 at halftime.

Vukovic scored on the first possession of the second period to knot the score for the final time, 45-45. A Stanford three gave the Golden Falcons the lead for good, and another one at the 17:11 mark put the visitors ahead, 56-46. Following a single free throw by the Lions, Felician received three-pointers from Spaulding, Stanford, and Mansfield Warren Jr. (South Amboy, N.J.) for a 65-47 spread and 14:33 to play.

With 9:14 remaining, Felician took its largest lead of the day, 76-57, after a basket and foul shot by senior Jordan Compas (Yonkers, N.Y.). The final 10-point margin was the closest the Lions drew in the final 16 minutes.

Warren totaled 11 points, six rebounds, and eight assists, as the Golden Falcons built a 49-36 rebounding advantage. Williams scored 10 points with 14 rebounds and three blocked shots, and Compas totaled 10 points and three assists in 19 minutes off the bench.
