Felician Tops Georgian Court, 103-87, On Senior Day

Box Score

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Forward/center Rahsaan Williams (Brooklyn, N.Y./Chelsea CTE), the only senior on the active roster for the 2018-19 Felician University men's basketball team, recorded 13 points, seven rebounds and four blocked shots during Felician's 103-87 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over visiting Georgian Court University on Saturday afternoon at Job Gymnasium.

The contest concluded regular-season play for both schools. Georgian Court (4-24, 3-16) saw its season come to an end. Felician, which cliched just the fifth winning season in the 23-year history of its program, will travel to Philadelphia to play the regionally-ranked Jefferson Rams on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in the quarterfinals of the CACC Championship tournament.

Williams, a two-year starter, is a transfer from Genesee Community College. He and three-year team manager Shelli Desrosiers of Irvington were honored in a pre-game Senior Day ceremony.

Junior guard Zamir Wright (Newark, N.J./University HS) topped six double-figure scorers for the Golden Falcons (14-12, 12-7) with 17 points and added seven assists. Felician freshman swingman Jay'von Jackson (Plainfield, N.J./St. Mary-Elizabeth) recorded 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Felician was clinging to a 33-29 edge with just under five minutes to play in the opening period when Wright tallied the game's next eight points in a span of 59 seconds. A three-point field goal by GCU junior Caleb Bowser (Philadelphia, Pa./Timber Creek) ended that stretch, but a three from Wright at the 0:58 mark gave the Golden Falcons their largest spread of the half, 53-38. The hosts carried a 55-41 edge into intermission.

Felician assumed full control by tallying the first 11 points of period two, including five from Williams. The Golden Falcon lead eventually grew as large as 26 points, 79-53, following a driving layup by Manny Warren Jr. (South Amboy, N.J./St. Mary-Elizabeth) with 11:40 remaining.

The Lions, however, geared up for a final run. GCU outscored the Golden Falcons, 21-4, over the next 4 ½ minutes of game time, slicing its deficit to nine after a Kim Speller (Glassboro, N.J./Glassboro) layup at the 7:21 mark. But the visitors managed only one field goal over the next five minutes, and with 4:25 to play, Felician's advantage had swelled back to 95-76.

Felician freshman Dee-End McRae (Irvington, N.J./Newark Central) was 7 for 7 from the floor and amassed 15 points and eight rebounds in 16 bench minutes. Warren finished with 15 points, and junior Jeff Lewis (Sicklerville, N.J./Timber Creek) netted 11. The Golden Falcons tallied 100 or more points for the fourth time this season, a school record.

Sean Barksdale (Lakewood, N.J./Lakewood) scored 16 points and Will Osborn (Seattle, Wash./Thomas Jefferson) (5-6 3FG) had 15 points in 15 minutes for Georgian Court.

Felician is seeking to reach the CACC semifinals for the first time since winning the its only league championship in 2010.
