Box Score LYNDHURST, N.J. – The Felician University men's lacrosse team was kept off the scoreboard until fewer than two minutes remained until halftime of its eventual 16-5 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference loss to visiting Dominican (N.Y.) College on Tuesday night at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex.
Junior goalkeeper Pat Hemmer (Staten Island, N.Y./Monsignor Farrell) made 16 saves and left Felician (0-11, 0-3) with seven ground balls in 54 minutes. But Dominican took control early, tallying four times in the game's first six minutes, the last three with a man advantage.
The Chargers (3-8, 2-1) exited the first quarter leading, 5-0. They had out-shot Felician, 18-4, and helped force the Golden Falcons into eight turnovers while committing only one.
Dominican extended to a 9-0 edge when Marcos Pierce (Middleburg, Va./Loudon Valley) found the cage at 4:47 of the second. Helped by their own man-up situation, the Golden Falcons finally broke through when Evan Turner (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Hills) found Kwa Fosu (Bronx, N.Y./St. Raymond) with 1:53 to play, but at intermission, Felician trailed 10-2.
Felician junior Ausar Wright (Pemberton, N.J./Ewing) claimed the first goal of the second half. But the hosts could not sustain the attack, and the 10-3 deficit was the closest they would come for the balance of the night.
Wright scored twice and sophomore James D'Albora (Staten Island, N.Y./Monsignor Farrell) picked up a goal, an assist, and four ground balls for Felician. Junior Nick D'Alessandro (Levittown, N.Y./Division Avenue) led the Chargers with four goals and three assists, and Pierce finished with two goals, two assists and eight ground balls.
The teams were whistled for a combined 14 penalties. Dominican was 5 for 9 on man-up opportunities.
Felician travels to Post University for a 3 p.m. faceoff on Apr. 24.
