Box Score

WORCESTER, Mass. – Following a season-opening three-game homestand, the Felician University men's lacrosse team played its first road affair of 2020 on Saturday afternoon and dropped a 27-4 non-conference decision to Assumption College at the Assumption Multi-Sport Stadium.

Senior midfielder Ausar Wright (Pemberton, N.J.) had a goal and an assist for Felician (0-4). Saturday's contest remained scoreless for more than five minutes. The Greyhounds netted the first two goals, but a marker by Felician junior James D'Albora (Staten Island, N.Y.) and a man-up score from sophomore teammate Anthony Mechkowski (Old Bridge, N.J.), the latter with three minutes, 42 seconds, left in the first quarter, evened the score. Assumption went ahead to stay on a Trevor Wilcox (Somers, Conn.) goal at the 2:40 mark, then saw junior Anthony D'Angelo (Grafton, Mass.) find the cage at the 0:06 mark to exit the period ahead, 4-2.

Assumption senior Brett Jennings (Montgomery, N.Y.) had two goals and an assist as the hosts ran off the first five goals of period two. By the time Wright ended the spell with 4:25 left until halftime, the Golden Falcons trailed by six. Wright set up junior Anthony Hanratty (Hewitt, N.J.) with 1:00 on the clock and Felician was down, 9-4, at halftime.

The Golden Falcons never scored again. Felician was held to five shots after halftime, putting only one on cage. The Greyhounds tallied seven goals on 21 third-quarter shots, then piled on 11 scores in the fourth period on 20 attempts.

For the day, the Greyhounds outshot Felician, 71-20. Golden Falcon junior goalkeeper Pat Hemmer (Staten Island, N.Y.) yielded 18 goals and made 21 saves in just under 46 minutes. McLean-Byrd led all players with 17 faceoff wins in 30 attempts.

Assumption junior midfielder Nicholas Shanley (Milford, Conn.) totaled a game-high eight points with two goals and six assists. Senior defenseman Tim Tierney (Framingham, Mass.) had six caused turnovers and four ground balls. Greyhound freshman goalie Jace Heibel (Albertville, Minn.) earned the victory with five saves in 56 minutes.
