Box Score ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The Lewis University men's lacrosse team earned a 17-3 non-conference victory over visiting Felician University on Friday evening at Lewis Stadium.
Senior midfielder Ausar Wright (Pemberton, N.J.) claimed a goal and an assist and attackmen Anthony Mechkowski (Old Bridge, N.J.) and Robert Grasso (Islip, N.Y.) also scored for Felician (0-5). Lewis received a seven-point night from freshman attackman Nolan Dalep (Victoria, British Columbia), who registered five goals and two assists.
The Flyers held Felician scoreless in the first half, outshooting their guests, 27-11 over the first 30 minutes. The Golden Falcons put only four of the 11 on cage, with all being saved by Lewis freshman goalkeeper Josh Calvin (Scottdale, Ariz.)
Dalep tallied the game's first two goals 15 seconds apart, the latter coming with 11:49 left in the first quarter. The 2-0 score held until the 2:58 mark, when a pair of Flyer markers in 24 seconds sent the hosts into period two ahead, 4-0. There, Lewis took full control, finding the cage five times in period of 1:47 for a 9-0 edge. Dalep's unassisted goal with 7:46 left until halftime allowed his team to enter the break ahead by 10.
Grasso broke the spell for Felician by scoring with 11:43 left in the third. Lewis picked up the game's next four scores, however, including three during the period's final 3:04.
Felician junior keeper Pat Hemmer (Staten Island, N.Y.) registered seven saves and picked up a team-high eight ground balls in 49 minutes. Freshman Thomas Purfeerst (Rosemount, Minn.) totaled three goals and three assists and classmate Xan Brouillet (Lino Lakes, Minn.) added three goals and two assists for Lewis (3-2).
For the evening, Lewis piled up advantages of 42-20 in shots and 43-25 in ground balls. Only one penalty was called during the briskly played affair, which concluded in one hour, 45 minutes.
Felician stays in Romeoville on Sunday for a neutral-site contest against Quincy University on Lewis' campus.
