RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician University was unable to recover from an 18-point halftime deficit in an eventual 94-72 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference men's basketball loss to host Dominican (N.Y.) College on Saturday afternoon on the Hennessy Center's Coach Baxter Court. Dominican is ranked No. 24 in the most recent national NCAA Division II coaches' poll and No. 13 in the media version.

Junior Justin Davis (Jersey City, N.J.) led Felician (3-3, 1-1 CACC) with 22 points. Golden Falcon junior Dee-End McRae (Newark, N.J.) scored 15 points with seven rebounds.

The Chargers (8-0, 2-0) pulled away late in the first period. After a successful Davis jump shot made the score 30-24 in favor of Dominican, the hosts outscored Felician, 16-2, for the balance of the half. A Justin Copman (Cumberland, Md.) buzzer-beating putback allowed the Chargers to complete the period with their largest lead to that point, 46-28.

A three-point field goal by Felician sophomore Nas Amos (Newark, N.J.) made the score 49-33 with 18:18 remaining in regulation time. But that is as close as the Golden Falcons would come. Dominican responded with the game's next nine points, and the spread grew as large as 69-40 following a Jalen Burgess (Springfield Gardens, N.Y.) three-pointer at the 12:35 mark.

Amos (six assists) and Sean McCarthy (Cork, Ireland) netted 10 points each for Felician. The Chargers' Burgess led all scorers with 24 points and added seven rebounds. Copman (10-13 FG) had 21 points and nine rebounds in 19 minutes, and Wahaad Johnson (Brooklyn, N.Y.) (8-11 FG, 5-7 3FG) finished with 21 points in 21 minutes for Dominican.

The Chargers, who shot 52 percent from the floor, piled up a 50-27 rebounding advantage.

Felician is next in action on Thursday, when it travels to Pleasantville, N.Y., for a 7 p.m. non-league tip against Pace University.
