Box Score LAKEWOOD, N.J. – Felician University used a balanced offense and a strong rebounding presence to pull away for a 75-61 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference men's basketball victory over host Georgian Court University on Friday afternoon at the GCU Wellness Center.
Sophomore guard Nas Amos (Newark, N.J.) led Felician (3-2, 3-2 CACC) with 19 points and four assists. Amos was 7 of 11 from the floor and 3 for 3 at the foul line. Junior forward Dee-End McRae (Newark, N.J.) totaled 18 points and nine rebounds for the Golden Falcons. Felician, which is 2-0 at home, picked up its first road victory of 2021.
Felician piled up a 42-31 rebounding edge, including 34-21 on the defensive glass. Junior Justin Davis (Jersey City, N.J.) led all players with 12 boards to go along with four points.
The Golden Falcons trailed, 32-31 at halftime and were still down, 41-39, with 16 minutes, 16 seconds remaining in regulation time. But moments later, the visitors went ahead to stay on a McRae layup as part of a 6-0 run. With Felician clinging to a 58-54 edge at the 8:06 mark, Amos made a three-point field goal out of a timeout and McRae followed with a bucket for a nine-point bulge. The Golden Falcons systematically pulled away, leading by as many as 16 points in the closing minute.
The Golden Falcons shot 63 percent from the field in the second half, with Amos and McRae each going 5 for 5. For the game, Felician converted 51 percent of field-goal attempts and held the Lions to a 35-percent rate.
Junior Etnik Peci (Pristina, Kosovo) scored 15 points off the bench and classmate B.J. Saliba (Hackensack, N.J.) added 11 for Felician. Senior Davon Floyd (Washington, D.C.) topped GCU (1-3, 1-3) with 16 points and seven rebounds.
Felician has a quick turnaround on Saturday, meeting Concordia (N.Y.) College at noon in Bronxville, N.Y. Spectators are not allowed to attend CACC games in person this season and are encouraged to follow conference basketball action via webstream at www.caccnetwork.com.
