Box Score RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Junior forward Dee-End McRae (Newark, N.J./Newark Central) scored a career-high 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Felician University to a 69-53 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference men's basketball victory over visiting Concordia (N.Y.) College on Wednesday night at Job Gymnasium.
McRae shot 9 for 11 from the field and was 5 of 5 at the foul line. He added three assists in his 31 minutes of action. McRae turned in his third "double-double" of the season and the sixth of his career. Felician classmate B.J. Saliba (Hackensack, N.J./Hackensack) netted 13 points.
Playing for the fifth time in six days, the Golden Falcons (5-4, 5-4 CACC) put forth their best defensive effort of 2021. In addition to yielding a season-low point total, Felician held Concordia to 30-percent shooting, including 4 of 20 (20 percent) from three-point range.
The Clippers (2-5, 2-5) scored the game's first five points, but Felician countered with the next 12 and never trailed again. The hosts were ahead by that same seven-point margin, 35-28, at halftime.
Concordia cut its deficit to 37-32 following two Kyle Parris (Old Bridge, N.J./Old Bridge) foul shots with 17 minutes, 47 seconds, left in regulation time, but never drew closer. Felician broke the game open with a 12-1 run, which includes six points from Justin Davis (Jersey City, N.J./Hoboken), over the next four minutes. The Golden Falcons took their largest lead, 64-42, on a Davis three-point field goal at the 6:42 mark.
Jaylen Colon (Paterson, N.J./John F. Kennedy) amassed 10 points and five assists and Davis finished with nine points and eight rebounds in 22 bench minutes for Felician. Senior Jared Young (Mount Vernon, N.Y./Mount Vernon) topped Concordia with 11 points.
