Box Score SPARKHILL, NY –Golden Falcons drop to the Spartans, 74-69, in Game Two of the STAC Tip-Off Challenge Sunday afternoon. Felician entered the second half leading by 11, but STAC held the Golden Falcons to 50-points for about 5-minutes to ultimately take the lead and run away with the win.
Jaylen Colon (Paterson, NJ) led the squad with 19-points, Etnik Peci (Pristina, Kosovo) recorded 18-points, and Edwards had a doulbe-double outing with 10 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 assists.
The afternoon was sparked by two Edwards layups and STAC did a quick turnaround to lead 8-4 with 16-minutes left in the half. After a Colon three, the Golden Falcons gained momentum to eventually lead by 11 when Ebuka Nnagbo (Niagara Falls, NY) laid in a bucket to enter halftime 45-34.
Colon, Nnagbo, and Peci put a combined 5-points on the board to hit 50, but the offensive spark for the Golden Falcons was put out for approximately 5-minutes. During that time, the Spartans rallied 16-consecutive points to take the lead, 52-50, to have the scoreboard flip back-and-forth for majority of the half. The last time Felician obtained the lead was after Colon and Anas Amos (Newark, NJ) made freebees, 63-61, but this was the last time the Golden Falcons would edge the Spartans.
Nnagbo shined a glimmer of light for the squad after a tip-in to allow the Golden Falcons to be down by 3, but after a forced foul with 15-second left, STAC put the game away after a pair of free-throws, 74-69.
The Golden Falcons capped off the weekend with a 1-1 record and will head back home for its home court opener against Queens (NY) College at 7pm on Wednesday in Job Gymnasium.
