Box Score RUTHERFORD, NJ – Felician men's basketball overcame a 12-point first-half deficit to capture a 58-55 win over Queens to open its home season Wednesday night. The Golden Falcons rebounded from an opening 9-0 Knights run and a 26-14 disparity to trail just 31-28 at halftime. They then settled in the second half, gaining ground on the Knights before Etnik Peci's (Pristina, Kosovo / Renaissance Academy) 3-pointer with under five minutes left put Felician ahead to stay.
Peci's triple put Felician up 54-52, spurring on Felician's defense to allow only just one field goal from Queens the rest of the evening. With the Golden Falcons ahead 56-54 with just under 90 seconds left, Queens' last chance to tie the game came and went when Elijah Blackman could only make the back end of his trip to the free throw line. Felician's Ebuka Nnagbo (Niagara Falls. N.Y. / Park School of Buffalo) answered with a layup on the ensuing possession for the last points of the match.
Jonathan Edwards (Waterbury, Conn. / Waterbury Career Academy) led all scorers with 16 points while contributing four rebounds. Anas Amos (Newark, N.J. / Newark East Side) and Jaylen Colon (Paterson, N.J. / John F. Kennedy-Paterson) each gathered 13 points, with Amos tallying five boards and six assists. Peci was the fourth in double figures with ten points and making a team-best 2-of-3 from behind the arc on the night.
Queens outrebounded Felician 47-30, though the Golden Falcons forced the Knights into 20 turnovers to their nine. The green and gold held the edge in points in the paint by a 40-26 margin, as well as a 16-5 lead in fast break points.
