Box Score RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Felician University men's basketball team played host to Georgian Court in Saturday afternoon CACC action. The Golden Falcons opened up as much as a 17-point lead in the first half before the Lions used a late first half run to get back in the game, then answering with 40 second-half points to secure the victory.
The Golden Falcons opened the game with a 25-8 lead through the first 10 minutes. GCU responded with a 12-0 run to get back within striking distance, with Felician leading 36-30 at the half. The Lions eventually inched ahead in the second half, with the Golden Falcons keeping pace. Deiker Padrino (Bogota, N.J.) nailed a three to bring Felician to within four at 56-52 with 7:13 to play. The Lions, however, reeled off nine straight points over the next two minutes to build their largest lead at 65-52.
Georgian Court's Jamaal Waters headlined the scoring on the afternoon with 31 points, as well as a game-high nine rebounds. Peci and Sean McCarthy (Cork, Ireland) led the Golden Falcons with 14 points, with McCarthy leading the team with eight rebounds. Ebuka Nnagbo (Niagara Falls. N.Y.) dropped eight points with seven boards.
The Golden Falcons connected on 36.9 percent shooting (24-of-65) with 7-of-22 on threes and 7-of-8 on free throws. The Lions connected on 46.3 percent (25-of-54) making 9-of-22 triples and 11-of-15 from the line. GCU led on the rebounds, 40-29. Felician forced 18 Lions turnovers for a 13-4 lead in points off turnovers.
Head coach Ivan Lewis' team (5-18, 1-13 CACC) heads up the road on Tuesday to take on Bloomfield (13-10, 9-5 CACC) at 7:30 p.m.
