Sparks, MD. - The men's lacrosse team earned their first win of the season on Sunday afternoon, defeating the University of the District of Columbia, 7-6, at Tierney Field.
Liam Dunn led the way with a hat trick, including a man-up goal in the third quarter.
Damian Carrigan added two goals, while
Connor Langdon tallied a goal and two assists.
Zach Garlinger delivered the game-winner midway through the fourth quarter on a man-up opportunity, finished a feed from Langdon.
The Firebirds struck first just 39 seconds into the game, but Dunn answered minutes later to even the score. Carrigan gave Felician its first lead of the afternoon with a man-up goal at the 4:38 mark of the opening quarter. UDC responded to tie the game 2-2 heading into the second.
Felician regained control in the second and third quarters. Dunn's second goal of the day put the Golden Falcons back in front, and the offense found its rhythm in the third. Langdon and Dunn scored back-to-back goals during a two-minute stretch. Carrigan later added his second goal to make it 6-3 heading into the final period.
The Firebirds had a strong fourth quarter comeback in the last quarter, netting three goals in an eight-minute span to tie the game at six. Felician capitalized on a UDC penalty, as Garlinger buries the decisive man-up goal.
Goalkeep
Landon Santangelo earned the win in net, making seven saves. Felician went 3-for-6 on extra-man opportunities, while holding the Firebirds scoreless on four man-up chances.
Felician will travel to American International on Saturday, February 21 for a 7:00 PM start.
