Rutherford, N.J. - The Felician University men's lacrosse team battled back but ultimately fell short in a 12-11 loss to Caldwell on Wednesday evening at Tryon Field.
Felician jumped out to a fast start, scoring five of the first six goals of the game. The Golden Falcons received early offense from
Joe Bouab,
Liam Dunn,
Connor Langdon,
Damian Carrigan, and
Stanley Labady II.Â
Caldwell responded with a strong second quarter, outscoring Felician 5-1 to erase the deficit and take a 6-5 lead. The Cougars were led by Zakkery Glatfelter, who scored three of his five goals in the period, as Michael Spitz helped orchestrate the offense with multiple assists.
Felician tied the game at six heading into halftime after Dunn capitalized on a man-up opportunity with 20 seconds remaining in the second quarter.Â
The Golden Falcons regained momentum in the third quarter, scoring four goals to build a 10-7 advantage. Carrigan netted two goals, while Bouab added a man-up goal and
Brian Rosko found the back of the net off an assist from Labady II.Â
Caldwell surged again in the fourth quarter, scoring five of the first six goals in the final period to reclaim the lead. Uriguen recorded three goals in the quarter to pull ahead 12-10 with 6:28 remaining.
Carrigan cut the deficit to one with 4:57 remaining after finishing a pass from Rosko, but Felician was unable to find the equalizer.
Carrigan led with four goals, as Bouab and Dunn each added two goals. Langdon and Labady II finished with three points each.Â
Felician held the advantage in shots and clears.
Landon Santangelo finished with 11 saves.
Felician will return to Tryon Field Saturday for a match up against Holy Family.
