New Castle, DE - Felician's historic postseason run came to an end on Friday afternoon as the Golden Falcons fell to Caldwell, 8–7, in the CACC Tournament. Despite the result, Felician closed the season at 26–24, completing one of the most significant turnarounds in program history and reshaping the future of Golden Falcon softball.
Felician came out aggressively and appeared poised to continue its postseason run after building multiple leads throughout the afternoon.
The Falcons struck immediately in the first inning. Kimberly Torres opened the game with a single, and after moving into scoring position, Mikayla Brown brought her home with a sacrifice fly. Moments later, Hannah Ramirez lined an RBI single up the middle to give Felician an early 2–0 advantage.
Felician added on again in the second when Torres launched a solo home run to center, continuing her historic season.
The Falcons continued to pressure Caldwell across the middle innings. Torres tripled home a run in the fourth to make it 4–0, and after Caldwell answered with four runs in the fifth to take the lead, Felician responded again in the sixth. Karina De La Vega delivered an RBI double down the left field line to tie the game at 5–5.
Felician reclaimed control in the seventh. Hannah Ramirez and Kailey Alas opened the inning with back-to-back hits before Kelsey Vitalis ripped a two-run triple to right field, putting the Falcons back in front 7–5 and moving them within three outs of extending their season.
Caldwell answered in the bottom half, using a late rally to walk off the victory.
Kimberly Torres capped another standout performance with three hits, including a home run and triple, while driving in two runs. Hannah Ramirez added two hits and an RBI, Brielle Cubala collected two hits, and Kelsey Vitalis delivered the go-ahead two-run triple in the seventh.
Even in defeat, the Golden Falcons cemented themselves as one of the rising programs in the CACC. After missing the postseason a year ago, Felician completed a dramatic turnaround by hosting—and winning—its first-ever home playoff game, advancing to the CACC Semifinals for the first time in program history, and finishing with a dominant 26–24 campaign.
With a roster that rewrote portions of the program record book and established a new standard for success, Felician has firmly positioned itself as a force within the CACC for years to come.
