Baseball's Myrtle Beach Weekend Ends With Loss

Box Score

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Southern New Hampshire University used a pair of five-run innings to earn a 10-2 non-conference baseball victory over Felician College on Sunday morning at the Ripken Experience complex. The game marked the end of the weekend stay for both teams at the Northeast Challenge event.

SNHU (4-0), the designated visiting team, broke open a scoreless contest with five runs in the top of the fourth inning, taking advantage of two Felician errors. Penman sophomore first-baseman Riley Palmer (Goffstown, NH) had a two-run single in the inning, in which four of the runs were unearned off of Felician right-hander Brian Dudzinski (Lincroft, NJ) (0-1).

Like the Penmen, the Golden Falcons loaded the bases with none out in their half of the fourth. Felician settled for two runs when Marc Torres (Bay Shore, NY) scored on an error and Joe Petosa's (Spotswood, NJ) fielder's choice grounder brought home Mike Farrell (Lincroft, NJ).

Dudzinski lasted for seven innings, yielding one earned run on two hits with four strikeouts and four walks. SNHU, however, tacked on five more runs in the eighth off of the Golden Falcon bullpen. A three-run triple by junior Jon Minucci (Madison, CT) highlighted the frame.

SNHU hurler Junior Mendez (Patchogue, NY) (1-0) gave up no earned runs on four hits (three in the fourth inning) in seven innings of work. Petosa finished 1 for 4 with a double for Felician (4-4).
