Box Score 1 WINTER PARK, Fla. – The Felician College baseball team saw its spring break trip get off to a difficult start on Saturday, as the Golden Falcons lost a pair of games during the Baseball Week tournament hosted by Rollins College at Alfond Stadium. Felician (4-6) dropped a 5-3 decision to Stonehill College in the afternoon before the host Tars handed the Golden Falcons a 16-0 setback on Saturday evening.
Against Stonehill, Felician, the designated home team, out-hit the Skyhawks, 10-5, but left 10 runners on base while coming up on the short end. Felician carried a 1-0 lead into the seventh as starting pitcher Jerry Vasto (Atlantic Highlands, N.J.) and reliever Dean Loucka (Wood-Ridge, N.J.) kept Stonehill hitless. Vasto was lifted after five no-hit innings having thrown 85 pitches and yielded seven walks.
The Skyhawks broke through against the Felician bullpen in the seventh and posted five runs on four hits off of Loucka (0-1) and Jack Fowler (Shrewsbury, N.J.). A two-run single by James DeAlto gave Stonehill the lead, and Anthony Pagano had a two-run double later in the inning.
Felician took advantage of two Skyhawk errors to score twice in the bottom of the seventh, but stranded six baserunners in the final three innings. Gabriel Fellin (Temple, Pa.) and Jordan Tackett (Fredericksburg, Va.) had two hits apiece for the Golden Falcons.
Felician was limited to one base hit in its night game, a single by Mike Farrell (Red Bank, N.J.) leading off the second. Rollins senior right-hander Taylor Smith struck out eight batters and walked two over eight innings.
The Tars scored in six of their nine offensive innings, including posting multiple runs in the fourth through the eighth. Felician freshman left-hander Chris Falcone (Staten Island, N.Y.) (0-3) was charged with 10 earned runs in five innings.
Zach Persky and Steve Betcherman banged out three hits each for Rollins (6-6).
