Baseball Offense Again Too Much For Nyack

SUFFERN, N.Y. – Felician University scored in eight of its nine offensive innings, pounding out 17 hits in its 14-6 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference baseball victory over host Nyack College on Wednesday afternoon at Rockland Community College. Felician (9-13, 4-0 CACC) posted 32 runs on 36 hits in sweeping its two-game CACC season series from the Warriors on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Golden Falcon junior right fielder Andrew LaMura (Brick, N.J.) went 4 for 6 and drove in four runs on Wednesday. LaMura tied a Felician record with three doubles. Felician sophomore shortstop Bruce Strickland (Hazlet, N.J.) had a triple among three hits, and leadoff man Ronnie Grant (Burlington, N.J.) was 3 for 4 and scored four runs.

Playing on his 20th birthday, Felician sophomore first baseman Jason Polgano (Bronx, N.Y.) hit a two-run home run in the top of the eighth inning, extending his team's lead at the time to 12-4. Polgano also had a triple in the contest and finished with three RBI.

The Golden Falcons scored in every inning but the second. Felician junior right-hander Matt Blandino (Bristol, Conn.) (2-2) yielded an unearned run in the third, and departed after six frames with a 7-2 lead. He gave up six hits, struck out nine batters and walked two, taking over the CACC strikeout lead with 40 in the process.

Grant's two-run single highlighted a three-run seventh for Felician, making the score 10-2.

Felician junior catcher Matt Kleinstein (Marlboro, N.J.) was 2 for 4. Senior John Kennedy (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) was 2 for 4 with a double and scored three runs for Nyack (3-14, 1-3).
