Box Score UNIONDALE, N.Y. – Senior right fielder Mike Martinez (Union City, N.J.) hit two home runs to lead Felician University to an 11-3 non-conference baseball victory over host Molloy College on Tuesday afternoon at Mitchel Field. The win allowed Felician (2-1) to capture its three-game season-opening series from the Lions after the teams split a Mar. 6 doubleheader in Lyndhurst, N.J.

The Golden Falcons out-hit Molloy, 13-8, seeing seven hits go for extra bases. Junior catcher Shawn Vazquez (Vineland, N.J.), sophomore designated hitter Levis Aguila (Miramar, Fla.) and freshman shortstop Michael Florides (Glen Cove, N.Y.) joined Martinez with two hits apiece.
The Felician bullpen allowed one unearned run on two hits over five innings. Junior left-hander Justin Tucker (Neptune, N.J.) (1-0), the first of four Golden Falcon relievers, pitched 1 2/3 frames and was credited with his first senior college victory.
Felician erased an early 1-0 deficit with three runs in the top of the fourth inning. After the visitors put their first two batters on first and third bases, Vazquez tied the game with an RBI single. The runners moved up on a groundout and the Golden Falcons scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch before Sean Downey (Eliazbeth, N.J.) capped the rally with another run-scoring hit.
Felician scored in each of its final six offensive innings to pull away, including twice each in the seventh, eighth and ninth. Martinez homered to straightaway center field leading off the sixth, making the score 5-2, then blasted a two-run shot to right in the ninth for the final margin.
Junior transfer Nick Galese (Totowa, N.J.) started on the mound for Felician, yielding two runs (one earned) on six hits with three strikeouts over four innings. His Lion counterpart, graduate righty Joe Minucci (East Meadow, N.Y.) (0-1) gave up four runs, three earned, on five hits and punched out five batters over five stanzas.
Patrick Hoffman (East Meadow, N.Y.) was 2 for 4 with two RBI and James Messina (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) also picked up a pair of hits for Molloy (1-2).
Felician hosts a four-game weekend series with St. Thomas Aquinas College at the Lyndhurst Recreation Complex.
