PALISADES PARK, N.J.  – The Felician University baseball team scored 11 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning on its way to an 18-11 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over visiting Bloomfield College on Tuesday afternoon at Overpeck County Park. The game marked the beginning of the 2022 CACC schedule for both schools.

Freshman catcher Luis De La Cruz (Jersey City, N.J./Bergen Catholic) and sophomore third baseman Dauri Genao (West New York, N.J./Memorial) were each 3 for 6 for Felician (5-10, 1-0 CACC). De La Cruz had a double, three runs scored and four runs batted in while Genao collected three RBI.

Felician trailed, 6-1, after 4 ½ innings, before moving closer with a three-spot in the fifth. The Bears reached Waltz for an unearned run in the top of the sixth to restore a three-run advantage. But in the home half of the sixth, the Golden Falcons sent 16 men to the plate. De La Cruz and Jake Stoller (Merion Station, Pa./Lower Merion) each went 2 for 2 during the frame, with De La Cruz driving in all four of his runs. Felician tied the score on Genao's RBI single, and Nick Vincelli (Waretown, N.J./Spotswood) followed with a three-run triple to put the hosts ahead for good. By inning's end, the Golden Falcons had seven hits, drew three walks, reached on three Bear errors, and led, 15-7.

In a game which lasted three hours, 56 minutes, the teams combined for 25 hits, nine errors, 12 walks and six hit batsmen. Bloomfield (6-11, 0-1) was defeated despite scoring in eight of its nine offensive innings.
