Box Score UNIONDALE, N.Y. – Felician University junior first baseman Edwin Tavarez (Garfield, N.J.) capped his team's eight-run third inning with a grand slam home run and the Golden Falcons went on to a 15-6 non-conference baseball victory over host Molloy College on Tuesday afternoon at Mitchel Field. The Golden Falcons opened the scoring on an RBI single by freshman catcher Luis De La Cruz (Jersey City, N.J.) in the top of the first inning. Felician's first two batters were retired in the third before De La Cruz singled and Michael Kuver (Manalapan, N.J.) walked. Junior Levis Aguila (Miramar, Fla.) poked a run-scoring single into left field, and senior Andrew Florides (Glen Cove, N.Y.) followed with a three-run home run.
The visitors continued to rally as two singles and a walk loaded the bases. Tavarez greeted a new pitcher with a blast to dead center field, giving Felician a 9-0 lead. The Golden Falcons continued to tack on throughout the game, eventually tagging seven Molloy pitchers for 15 earned runs on 15 hits and nine walks.
Freshman pitchers Logan Waltz (Hazlet, N.J.) and Mike Caldon (Matawan, N.J.) helped Felician's early offense stand up. Waltz (4-2) was credited with the victory. He scattered six hits over four innings, and all five runs he allowed were unearned. Caldon followed and struck out two batters in three hitless frames.
