Box Score MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Felician Baseball started its Saturday morning in Myrtle Beach, S.C. with a double-header against Southern Connecticut State University. In both contests, the Golden Falcons dropped to the Owls.
In game one (9-innings), Felician gave up 2 runs in the top of the first to eventually trail the Owls by 5 starting the bottom of the second. Chris Fernandez (Boca Raton, FL) clinched a single to have Ray Pereira (Jamacia, NY) advance him to second after reaching first on an error. With a runner in scoring position, Sean Evangelista (Jamacia, NY) slammed a RBI double to send Fernandez home to put the Golden Falcons on the board.
Felician would give up 9 runs and 12 hits overall as they dropped 9-5. The trailed 9-3 by the bottom of the sixth, but the Golden Falcons were able to record 2 more runs.
Later in the afternoon, the Golden Falcons kicked off Game 2 (7 innings) with the Owls. In the second inning the squad saw its first lead of the day after a 2-run performance from an Edwin Tavarez (Garfield, NJ) home run and a Jose David Medrano (North Bergen, NJ) RBI single. Dauri Genao (West New York, NJ) clinched a double in the third inning to give Felician the 3-1 lead, but the Owls would record a run in every inning up until the bottom of the 7th were they claimed the 6-4 victory.
After the double header, the Golden Falcons are 3-5 overall with one more game left to play in South Carolina. The squad will be back in action tomorrow to face the College of Staten Island starting at noon.
