Box Score 2 RUTHERFORD, NJ – Felician baseball hosted its home opener of the 2023 season with a doubleheader against Le Moyne. The green-and-gold are set to play a four game series with the Dolphins and in the first two the Golden Falcons split the decision losing game one 6-5 and winning game two, 3-1.
In game one, Haiden Walters (Coral Springs, FL) went 4-5 at the plate with one run and two RBI's and Julian Uejima (River Edge, NJ) went 2-3 with one run. Starting pitcher, Dylan Morrill (Teaneck, NJ) appeared in 5.1 innings to allow eight hits and struck out eight.
During the bottom of the second, Felician was on top early, 1-0, after Anthony Lamar (Freeport, NY) scored on a passed ball. Between the fourth and fifth inning the score flopped back-and-forth as the Dolphins gained the 3-1 advantage in top of the fourth to ultimately see the Golden Falcons take back the lead 4-3 after a Walters single and Jack Scrivanic (Tinton Falls, NJ) double.
The score would become tied at five when Walters once again singled to right field, but a top seven run would give the Dolphins the 6-5 lead for the game one win.
In the 7-inning game two, Walters remained hot at the plate going 2-3 with two runs. Lamar went 1-3 with an RBI and Chris Fernandez (Boca Raton, FL) would come in during the bottom of the fourth to poke a single through the right side to give Felician the 1-2 lead of the evening.
With the one run lead, Dauri Genao (West New York, NJ) placed a safety net out for the hosts as he recorded a SAC to advance Walters to eventually move on home after a throwing error, 3-2.
Starting pitcher, Logan Waltz (Hazlet, NJ) earned the win with 6 innings pitched giving up four hits one run and striking out five. Ralph Gambino (Freehold, NJ) clinched the save striking out two in the bottom of the seventh giving up no runs or hits to seal the game two win.
The Golden Falcons are 7-9 overall and will be back on its home turf at Breslin Park this Sunday to face Le Moyne for the final two games of the series starting at noon.
