Box Score RUTHERFORD, NJ – Felician Baseball kicks off the three-game weekend series with Franklin Pierce with a single game Saturday Evening. The Golden Falcons would secure two runs in the second inning to eventually halt its offense to drop 4-2.
In the second inning for the green-and-gold, Edwin Tavarez (Garfield, NJ) singled up the middle for his first at bat of the contest. With a throwing error on a Dauri Genao (West New York, NJ) bunt, the Golden Falcons had two on the basepaths; Tavarez in scoring position at third. Freshman Haiden Walters (Coral Springs, FL) adds another walk to his season to load up the bases for Thomas Kendrick (Jackson, NJ) who clinched the RBI on a fielder's choice to give Felician the 2-0 lead.
The Ravens started to chip away at the advantage with a run in the top of the fourth as they also had a bases loaded opportunity on three walks. The hosts would try to edge the opposer comeback but could not break the ice as the sixth inning fell in favor of Franklin Pierce to ultimately give the Ravens the 4-2 win.
Walters, Tavarez (one run) and Chris Fernandez (one RBI) (Boca Raton, FL) went 1-4 at the plate and starting pitcher, Nick DeCarlo (Barnegat, NJ) would pitch in 5.0 innings, giving three runs, five strikeouts and seven walks.
The baseball squad (7-13) will be back in action Sunday afternoon for a doubleheader with the Ravens to complete its three-game series at Breslin Field starting at 12:00pm.
