Box Score LYNDHURST, NJ – Felician baseball snapped a six-game losing streak with a 12-3 victory over Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opponents Caldwell University at Breslin Field Wednesday afternoon.
After allowing three-runs in the first, the Golden Falcons would shut out the Cougars for its first win since March 8th at Adelphi. Starting pitcher, Logan Waltz (Hazlet, NJ) secured the victory pitching in 6.0 innings while allowing eleven hits, three runs and two strikeouts. Derek Vonhorn (Hillsborough, NJ) pitched in 2.0 innings giving up two hits and striking out two while Ryan Kurczeski (Freehold, NJ) closed out the day in the ninth inning surrendering one hit.
The bottom of the second inning allowed the Golden Falcons post the 10-3 advantage to set the tone for the afternoon. Chris Fernandez led off for the squad with a single while Julian Uejima (River Edge, NJ) and Dillon DiBartolomeo (Franklin Lakes, NJ) were sent home on a Cole Porter (River Vale, NJ) sac and Caldwell pitcher a balk.
With two-outs, Dauri Genao (West New York, NJ) and Edwin Tavarez (Garfield, NJ) slammed back-to-back triples to bring home three runs to ultimately give the seven run advantage to the hosts. The green-and-gold would score two more times to close out the day with the 12-3 victory.
Baseball is 8-15 overall and is 1-0 in the CACC. The squad will be facing Caldwell on the road with a doubleheader on Friday starting at 12:00pm.
