Box Score 2 CALDWELL, NJ – Red-shirt senior, Chris Fernandez (Boca Raton, FL) went 3-7 in the doubleheader afternoon with Caldwell University as he slammed two homeruns in game one and a triple in game two in the 19-8 and 9-2 respective wins.
Felician baseball improves to 10-15 overall and 3-0 in the CACC after today's result.
GAME ONE:
Starting pitcher Nick DeCarlo (Barnegat, NJ) secured his first win of the season with 5.2 innings pitched to allow seven runs but also struck out seven. Jordan Savinon (Staten Island, NY) came in for the starter to pitch 3.1 innings to surrender one run while striking out four.
To join Fernandez with a homerun was Anthony Lamar (2-5) (Freeport, NY), who had 6 RBIs in game one, as he posted a grand slam to bring in four runs as the Golden Falcons held the 19-7 advantage. Defensively, the green-and-gold allowed one run for the hosts in the bottom of the ninth but eventually closed out game one with the 19-8 victory.
Haiden Walters (Coral Springs, FL) went 2-4 with three RBI's, Thomas Kendrick (Jackson, NJ) went 2-5 with two RBIs and Dauri Genao (West New York, NJ) was 3-4 with two RBIs.
GAME TWO (7-innings):
Felician entered game two of the afternoon swinging, as they recorded six of their nine runs in the first and second innings. Kendrick paced the offense going 4-5 with two RBI's while Cole Porter (River Vale, NJ) would go 2-3 with one walk and a run.
By the time the fourth inning rolled around, the Golden Falcons held a 6-2 advantage over the hosts. Fernandez tripled to left field to send home a run to eventually score on a wild pitch for two more runs to the green-and-gold lead.
Felician would score one more time after a Kendrick single to shut out the Cougars for the remainder of the afternoon for the 9-2 win.
The baseball squad will be back in action on Sunday at Breslin Field to continue conference play with a 7/7 doubleheader with Jefferson University starting at noon.
