Box Score 2 LYNDHURST, NJ – Felician baseball hosted Jefferson University at Breslin Field Sunday afternoon for a 7/7 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader where they would ultimately fall in both, 5-4 & 9-8 respectively.
GAME ONE (12 INNINGS):
Game one was forced into 12-innings when Cole Porter (River Vale, NJ) was sent home by Julian Uejima (River Edge, NJ) for the tying run at 3. The Golden Falcons would give up a run in the top of the tenth inning to answer back to stay alive when Haiden Walters (Coral Springs, FL) captured an RBI single.
By the twelfth inning, the Rams put a runner in scoring position to be sent home by the next batter for the 5-4 lead. In a man-up man-down bottom of the 12th inning, the green-and-gold dropped during game one.
Dauri Genao (West New York, NJ) went 3-4, Jack Scirvanic (Tinton Falls, NJ) went 2-6 and Jose David Medrano (North Bergen, NJ) went 2-2 with two RBI's and a walk. Starting pitcher, Wilfrido Valenzuela (Paterson, NJ) pitched in 9.0 innings surrendering three runs and three walks while striking out 10.
GAME TWO:
In game two, the Golden Falcons fell behind 2-0 after the first inning. They would post a run in the bottom of the second after an Anthony Lamar (1-2) (Freeport, NY) homerun, his second of the week, to chip away at the Ram lead, 2-1.
Fast forward to the sixth inning, the Rams increased their advantage to 8-1. Edwin Tavarez (2-4 – 4 RBIs) (Garfield, NJ) gave the green-and-gold life with a 2 RBI homerun to cut the deficit to five.
The Rams created a safety net for themselves with a run in the ninth as Felician posted five runs on three walks with bases loaded and a Tavarez single to trail by one with one out. However, despite the efforts the Golden Falcons fell short and were handed its second loss of the day.
Baseball dropped to 3-2 in the CACC and 10-17 overall. They will be back in action at Breslin Field to face the University of Bridgeport on Tuesday at 12:30pm
