Box Score GARDEN CITY , NY – Starting pitcher, Nick DeCarlo (Barnegat, NJ), ties the second-best Felician Pitching record as he struck out 14 batters in 5 innings pitched. With the dominant presence from the mound, the Golden Falcons secured the 4-3 victory of Adelphi University late Wednesday afternoon.
DeCarlo allowed three hits, two runs, and two walks while Logan Waltz (Hazlet, NJ) recorded the contest win with one inning pitched, one hit, one run, and two strikeouts. Derek Vonhorn (Hillsborough, NJ) clinched the save allowing no runs and no hits in the final two innings.
Felician posted the first run of the afternoon after Thomas Kendrick (Jackson, NJ) came home after a throwing error. From there, the Panthers took the opportunity to have the lead in the fifth inning, retiring DeCarlo for the day.
Haiden Walters (Coral Springs, FL) put himself on the basepaths in the sixth inning to eventually be sent around the horn when Jack Scrivanic (Tinton Falls, NJ) grounded out into a double play, 2-2. However, the Golden Falcons threw an error of their own to give the hosts the lead back 3-2 going into the eighth inning.
In the top of the eighth, Felician acquired two runs to seal the deal for the afternoon after a two-out rally. A pair of Panther errors allowed Felician to score the tying run by Dauri Genao (West New York, NJ). Later, Anthony Lamar (Freeport, NY) recorded an RBI single into center field to give the green-and-gold the go-ahead run, 4-3, and ultimately the win.
Felician Baseball improves to 6-8 overall. They will host its home opener on Friday in a four-game series with Le Moyne College at Breslin Field in Lyndhurst, NJ starting at noon.
