Box Score LYNDHURST, NJ – Felician Baseball starting pitcher, Wilfrido Valenzuela (Paterson, NJ) clinched a complete game through nine innings to shut out Dominican (N.Y.) in the 5-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Victory at Breslin Field.
The six-foot-two pitcher completed 9.0 innings only to surrender one hit, one walk and struck out eight. Edwin Tavarez (Garfield, NJ) led the Golden Falcon offense going 2-3 with one RBI and one run while CACC Rookie of the Week, Haiden Walters (Coral Springs, FL) also went 2-3 with one RBI. Cole Porter went 2-2 with one walk and one run.
To ignite the green-and-gold scoring, Jack Scrivanic (Tinton Falls, NJ) slammed a triple into left center and eventually stole home on a wild pitch for the first run of the afternoon. Moving into the bottom of the third inning, Porter touched home after a double play and Thomas Kendrick (Jackson, NJ) scored on a Tavarez RBI single, 3-0.
The Golden Falcons clinched two more RBI at bats from a Walters single in the sixth and an Anthony Lamar double for the 5-0 win.
Felician Baseball improves to 16-19 overall and 9-2 in the CACC. The squad will be back in action Friday to face Dominican (N.Y.) in Orangeburg, NY for a doubleheader starting at 2:00pm.
