Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

LYNDHURST, NJ – Felician baseball hosted Bloomfield College Saturday afternoon to complete its three-game series with a doubleheader. Both games were close contests as the Golden Falcons clinched the dual win 2-1 and 14-13 respectively.

GAME ONE:

In the opening game of the afternoon, the Bears clinched the first run in the top half of the sixth inning to hold off Felician until the bottom of the eighth. Dauri Genao (West New York, NJ) tied the game with an RBI single and Sean Evangelista (Jamaica, NY) capitalized on a Bloomfield throwing error to take the 2-1 lead.

The Golden Falcons secured the final three outs in the ninth to capture its first win of the afternoon.

In a pitching battle, Wilfrido Valenzuela (Paterson, NJ) pitched 8.0 innings surrendered only one run but struck out 10 for his fourth win of the season. Ralph Gambino (Freehold, NY) recorded the save as he came in during the ninth to secure the Felician victory.

Anthony Lamar (Freeport, NY) went 3-4 and Genao went 1-4 with an RBI.

GAME TWO (7-innings):

In a higher scoring game two, the green-and-gold ultimately edged the Bears for the 14-13 win after Bloomfield recorded three runs in the ninth for an attempted comeback. Both teams posted 12 hits during the contest while the Golden Falcons had three errors compared to the Bears two.

After three innings, the Golden Falcons held a 10-6 lead after RBI at bats from Jake Pellecchia (Manalapan, NJ), Haiden Walters (Coral Springs, FL) and Edwin Tavarez (Garfield, NJ). The green-and-gold's aggressive baserunning on wild pitches and passed balls aided in the advantage.

The Bears went into the final inning swinging to record three, but closer Derek Vonhorn (Hillsborough, NJ) secured the save on a strikeout to have the Golden Falcons win game two 14-13.
