Box Score WILMINGTON, DE – Felician Baseball faced Wilmington (Del.) Sunday afternoon for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference 7-7 doubleheader as the green-and-gold captured the 5-4 game two victory after 9-innings.
GAME ONE:
The Golden Falcons opened up the afternoon with only four hits and three errors in the 9-0 loss for the first afternoon contest.
Thomas Kendrick (Jackson, NJ), Edwin Tavarez (Garfield, NJ), Dauri Genao (West New York, NY) and Jose David Medrano (North Bergen, NJ) each went 1-3 at the plate but could not bring home a run to avoid the shutout.
GAME TWO (9-innings):
In a nine-inning game two, the Golden Falcons sat tied with the hosts after three and by the bottom half of the fifth, the Wildcats posted a two-run inning for the 4-2 advantage.
David Medrano and Cole Porter (River Vale, NJ) captured RBI at bats for another tie to push the contest into extra innings. Tavarez kicked off the ninth with a single to put himself on the basepaths while Anthony Lamar (Freeport, NY) placed a sacrifice bunt down to shift Tavarez into scoring position. Haiden Walters (Coral Springs, FL) recorded a Sac Fly to the right field to eventually send home Tavarez for the 5-4 lead and win.
Ralph Gambino (Freehold, NJ) clinched the win from the mound with 3.0 IP with three strikeouts and starting pitcher Jordan Savinon (Staten Island, NY) pitched 4.2 innings with five strikeouts.
Tavarez was 3-4 with two runs and Porter was 2-5 with one run and an RBI.
Felician baseball is 19-24 overall and 12-7 in the CACC. The Golden Falcons will be back in action Tuesday to face North Division leaders, Post University, in Waterbury, CT for game one of the three game series at 3:00pm.
