Felician's Regional Experience Cut Short After Loss to Queens

Box Score

NEWARK, DEL – Felician baseball entered the elimination round of the NCAA East Regional Tournament against Queens (N.Y.) College in Newark, Del. in an attempt to keep their spirits alive for another day. The Knights hot swings propelled them to 14 hits compared to Felician's 4 as they defeat the green-and-gold 7-4, ending the Golden Falcons regional weekend.

The duo of Dauri Genao (West New York, NJ) and Edwin Tavarez (Garfield, NJ) went 2-4 with one RBI to pace the Felician offense while 2023 Baseball Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference MVP, Wilfrido Valenzuela (Paterson, NJ) appeared on the mound for 6.0 innings and struck out five.

The Knights were on the board quick after a one run first inning; however, the Golden Falcons equalized the score after Haiden Walters (Coral Springs, FL) scored on a wild pitch, 1-1. Eventually the score was 3-1 in favor of Queens and the Golden Falcons battled to stay in the game.

With two men on in the bottom half of the third, Genao recorded his RBI at bat for Walters to touch home again to cut the deficit to one. By the end of the fifth inning, the Knights kept edging the Felician presence as they posted two runs through 2 innings for a 5-2 advantage.

Cole Porter (River Vale, NJ) sparked the sixth inning with a walk to ultimately advance to third on a Genao double. Tavarez posted an RBI at bat for the first run of the inning to trail 5-3 with no outs. With runners on the corners, Anthony Lamar (Freeport, NY) grounded out to third, but scored a run as the Golden Falcons found themselves down by one once again. Eventually, the third out was captured by the Knights halting Tavarez at third to have the Golden Falcons be shut out for the remainder of the contest, 7-4.

With this afternoon's loss the Felician Baseball championship season comes to an end. They finished the regular season with a 25-30 overall and 13-12 conference record while clinching a CACC championship as the 2 seed in the North Division.
