Box Score 2 FLEMINGTON, NJ – Felician Baseball hosted a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader with the North Division Leader, and No.1 seed in the CACC playoffs, Post University at Diamond Nation in Flemington, NJ Tuesday afternoon.
In the day, both teams combined nine homeruns throughout two games as Post handed the Golden Falcons the doubleheader loss.
GAME ONE:
In the 11-9 game one defeat, the green-and-gold fell 2-0 quick after the top half of the first inning. Dauri Genao (West New York, NJ) brought in the first run of the afternoon for the Golden Falcons to slowly chip away at the Eagle lead, 2-1. The opposers added on with three more runs for a 5-1 advantage, however, Genao (3 RBI) and Edwin Tavarez (solo) (Garfield, NJ) recorded back-to-back homeruns to tie the game at five.
In a battle to stick with the visitor, Anthony Lamar (Freeport, NY) added another Felician homerun to the books take the 8-7 lead after the bottom half of the fourth.
By the fifth inning, the Golden Falcons recorded its final run of the contest when Jose David Medrano (North Bergen, NJ) singled down the right field line for an RBI at bat. Ultimately, the hosts were shut out for the remainder of game one as the Eagles stole the 11-9 victory.
Genao went 2-5 with four RBIs, Lamar 2-4 went 2-4 with one RBI and Tavarez went 1-5 and an RBI.
GAME TWO (7-innings):
During the 7-inning game two, the Golden Falcons got out in front after a 3-run first inning when Tavarez recorded his second homerun of the day, this time a 3 RBI homer, 3-1.
The Eagles recorded four runs in the second to have the advantage over the hosts as both teams ran cold at the plate until the sixth inning. Post added two more runs to the score, 7-3, but Haiden Walters (Coral Springs, FL) brought in a run on a sacrifice fly to cut the deficit to 3.
Despite the Felician efforts, the lead was further extended to 9-4 in the final frame with one more chance for the Golden Falcons to snag the game two win. With one out and two men on, Cole Porter (River Vale, NJ) singled to right field to send home a run to trail 9-5. The hosts eventually loaded the bases, but the Eagles captured the final out to take game two, 9-5.
Tavarez went 2-4 with two runs and 3 RBIs, Chris Fernandez (Boca Raton, FL) went 2-3 with one run and Porter went 1-3 with one RBI.
The Golden Falcons (19-28/12-11 CACC) will be back at Diamond Nation Wednesday afternoon for its senior day celebration and to welcome Chestnut Hill for a 7-7 CACC doubleheader.
