RUTHERFORD, N.J. - It has officially begun... the 2024 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Softball first round is happening in Felician University's backyard as the Golden Falcons, who clinched the #5 seed on Wednesday (4/24), is traveling to #4 Bloomfield College. 

With Felician being placed in the fifth seed, they are required to sweep the Bears in a doubleheader fashion to advance to the next round, however, if the hosts take game one (or the 'if necessary' game two) the Bears will move on. 

The First Round is set for Saturday, Apr. 27, with the first game set for 2:30pm at Clark's Pond Field in Bloomfield, N.J.

PREVIOUS MEETING (4/20/24): BEARS SWEEP GOLDEN FALCONS (2-3 / 0-1)

• Katie Steinmetz (Chula Vista, C.A.) and Alexis Velotta (Menifee, C.A.) paced the green-and-gold offense with a Steinmetz homer and Velotta RBI double in the 2-3 game one loss. 
• The Golden Falcons led the Bears 2-0 after three and a half innings of play. By the bottom of the fourth, the Bears rallied three to take to lead advantage, 2-3, for the first win of the series.
• Game two, the Bears shut out the Golden Falcons to secure the regular season sweep and Mikayla Brown (Las Vegas, N.V.) posted the lone single for the squad in the final frame in an attempt to edge the Bears for the win. 
• Riley Williams (Corona, C.A.) pitched both games completely and raked in a collective 11 strikeouts. 

PLAYERS TO BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR (BLOOMFIELD):

• #3 Jocelyn Moody - leads the team with .353 batting average (.916 on base percentage) with five home runs and 21 RBI. 
• #14 Sierra Albritton - despite only tallying eight RBI this season, she leads the team with 40 hits and is swift on the base paths stealing 24 of her 26 attempts to sit sixth overall in the CACC. 
• #22 Danielle Walters - ace pitcher for the Bears with a 2.83 ERA and sits in the top-10 in the CACC in that category. Walters was in the circle in game one versus the Golden Falcons on Apr. 20 where she struck out 11 Felician batters. 

PLAYERS TO BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR (FELICIAN):
Four records have been recorded throughout the 2024 season and all four of them have been within recent events: Daisha Howard (Westbury, N.Y.) posting the career triple record (currently has 23) Velotta set the career doubles record on senior day (currently has 42), Williams holds the most strike outs in a season record with 140+, and Steinmetz set an in game record with 7 at Caldwell. 

• Velotta leads the team in batting average (.382), in which she's 11th overall in the conference, and on base percentage (.994) with 11 doubles. 
• Steinmetz's recent spurt at the plate has propelled her to 13th in the conference with 30 RBI as she tallies four home runs and a .325 batting average.
• Jenna O'Reilly (Suffern, N.Y.) is someone you find on the base paths often, but she doesn't stay put long. She swiped 30 bases this season and as been caught twice (30-32). She is third in the conference in this category. 
• Williams is in the top five in three categories for pitching this season for the conference. She is third overall in Wins (15) and Strikeouts (145) this season and is first overall with three saves. 
• Howard has come alive in most recent weeks after the recorded the career triple record. Since then, she's went 23-64 (.359) at the plate with seven triples, two home runs, and 12 RBI.
