Softball Splits Against Dominican

Haverstraw, NY - Felician split its doubleheader with Dominican (N.Y.) in a CACC match-up. The Golden Falcons earned a thrilling 3-2 extra-inning win behind Riley Williams' complete game, before falling 9-7 in the second game despite a strong offensive outing and error-free defensive showing.

Game One

Felician battled their way to a gritty 3-2 extra-inning victory over Dominican (N.Y.) behind a well-timed offensive surge, steady pitching, and sharp defensive execution. After four scoreless innings, the Golden Falcons broke through in the fifth to take the initial lead. Though Dominican answered with runs in the fifth and sixth, Felician responded with composure, tying the game in the seventh before manufacturing the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth. Riley Williams anchored the win with a complete-game performance in the circle, going eight full innings while allowing just five hits, two earned runs, and striking out three. Offensively, Sadie Kittoe sparked the charge with a 1-for-2 day that included a double, an RBI, a walk, and a stolen base. Monique Sandoval delivered in clutch fashion, going 2-for-3 with an RBI and driving in a key run with two outs. Layla Albarran added a run-scoring double and anchored the defense with 11 putouts at first base, while Sara Torres contributed a hit and added two assists from third. As a team, Felician collected eight hits, drew a walk, and stole three bases while striking out just six times. Defensively, the Golden Falcons were active and effective, recording 24 putouts and 13 assists with only two errors. Felician's resilience, timely production, and strong all-around performance secured the well-earned win in extra frames.

Game Two

Felician jumped out to an early lead against Dominican (N.Y.), showing offensive firepower with a run in the second inning followed by a four-run explosion in the third. The Golden Falcons continued to press, adding two more runs in the fourth to take a 7-1 advantage midway through the game. However, Dominican mounted a relentless comeback, scoring four runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to swing momentum and ultimately claim a 9-7 victory. Felician's offense was led by Kimberly Torres, who delivered a standout performance at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two home runs, three RBIs, and two runs scored. Mikayla Brown chipped in with a two-run double, while Hannah Ramirez sparked the top of the order with a 2-for-3 outing that included an RBI, a run scored, and a hit-by-pitch. Behind them, Makayla De La Rosa La added a consistent presence in the eighth spot, collecting two hits and a run, and Sadie Kittoe contributed a hit, a walk, and a run scored. As a team, Felician totaled nine hits, including two home runs and a double, while driving in seven runs and striking out just twice. The pitching staff combined for six innings, allowing ten hits and nine earned runs with two walks and one strikeout. Defensively, Felician turned in a clean effort, recording eighteen putouts and twelve assists without committing an error.
