Bridgeport, CT. - The Golden Falcons faced a tough challenge against Bridgeport, falling both games 6-12 and 6-1.
Game One
The Golden Falcons got off to a promising start, as
Mikayla Brown doubled and advanced to third on a wild pitch, resulting in Felician's only run in the top of the first inning. However, Bridgeport quickly responded with Lacie Grenier's two-RBI single putting the Purple Knights ahead. Bridgeport's offense was aggressive throughout the game, scoring in each of the next three innings. By the fourth, Bridgeport took the 6-1 lead, which led through the final three innings. Despite getting eight hits through the game, including a double from
Mikayla Brown and a solid performance from
Macie Jacquet (2-for-4), the team was unable to push any more runs across. The Golden Falcons stranded eight runners on base, failing to convert in critical moments. On the mound,
Riley Williams took the loss, allowing two earned runs in the first inning before being relieved by
Mallory Shevlin, who pitched 5 innings and gave up four earned runs on five hits. Bridgeport's Vise Zarate earned the win, going the distance with a complete game, allowing just one earned run on eight hits, striking out two, and walking one. Felician's defense was solid with no errors.
Game Two
Bridgeport rolled to a 12-6 win over Felician in game two. The game started with a quick 2-0 lead for Bridgeport, highlighted by a two-run double from Charlee Horton. Felician had an opportunity to respond, putting runners on base in the second, but not managing to score. Bridgeport continued its dominance in the second, scoring six runs on five hits. Felician couldn't keep pace, though they mounted a brief rally in the third.
Mikayla Brown and
Layla Albarran hit back-to-back home runs to start the inning. A series of singles and an error allowed them to push across five runs, pulling within striking distance at 8-5. Bridgeport responded scoring four more runs. By the end of the third, Bridgeport took a commanding 12-5 lead. Felician scored one more run in the top of the sixth when
Mikayla Brown double to drive in Kim Torres. Starting pitcher
Jocelyn Moody was charged with the loss after allowing five earned runs in five innings. Reliever
Skye Limardo was hit hard in one inning of relief, giving up six earned runs.
