Lyndhurst, NJ - Felician earned a split against Caldwell on Saturday, responding late for a 6–5 win in Game One before dropping a 2–1 decision in Game Two. The split snapped Felician's 29-game winning streak against Caldwell, a run that dated back to April 23, 2015.
Game One
Felician established control early and found one more answer late to secure the win, finishing with six runs on seven hits while drawing six walks.
Luis De La Cruz jumpstarted the offense in the first with a two-run home run, and Brandon Petrick added an RBI single later in the inning to make it 3–0. The Falcons added on in the second when Haiden Walters doubled and came around to score, extending the lead to four.
The game shifted in the sixth as Caldwell tied it, but Felician immediately countered. Ernesto Polanco lifted a sacrifice fly in the bottom half to regain the lead, and after the game was evened again in the seventh, the Falcons delivered the deciding run in the eighth. Ian Vertucci lined an RBI single to bring home Braden Walsh and put Felician back in front for good.
Haiden Walters led the lineup with two hits, while Luis De La Cruz drove in two with his home run. Brandon Petrick, Ernesto Polanco, and Ian Vertucci each added an RBI as Felician spread production throughout the order.
Max Weber struck out eight over 5.2 innings in the start. Jackson Walsh handled the bridge innings, and Gavin Enright closed it out with 1.2 scoreless innings, striking out three to seal the win.
Game Two
The second game stayed tight throughout, with neither side able to generate much separation.
Felician pushed across its lone run in the first inning. Jose David Medrano reached and later scored as the Falcons capitalized on a defensive miscue to take an early lead. From there, chances were limited. Caldwell tied the game in the second and moved ahead in the fifth, while Felician was unable to come up with a tying run despite putting runners on in multiple innings.
Felician finished with four hits, with Medrano, Bryce Curry, Rocko Brzezniak, and Braden Walsh each recording one.
Aiden Denton allowed two runs over five innings to keep Felician within striking distance, and Antonio Sansone followed with two scoreless innings in relief, giving the Falcons an opportunity late.
