Softball Sweeps Goldey-Beacom

Nutley, NJ - Felician earned a doubleheader sweep over Goldey-Beacom on Monday, grinding out a 3–2 win in Game One before pulling away for a 5–1 victory in Game Two.

Game One

Felician leaned on timely hitting and a complete-game effort in the circle, finishing with three runs on six hits.

The Falcons opened the scoring in the second, capitalizing on pressure and defensive miscues to take a 1–0 lead. After Goldey-Beacom answered, Felician put together its decisive stretch in the third. Kimberly Torres doubled to start the rally, Mikayla Brown followed with an RBI double, and Alyson Walling added an RBI single as Felician built a 3–1 advantage.

Goldey-Beacom trimmed the lead in the fourth, but Felician held firm the rest of the way.

Kimberly Torres led the offense with two hits, including a double, while Mikayla Brown added a double and an RBI. Alyson Walling and Kelsey Vitalis each drove in a run, and Makayla De La Rosa contributed a hit and scored.

Jocelyn Moody handled the rest. She worked all seven innings, allowing just two runs (one earned) and keeping the game steady once Felician grabbed the lead.

Game Two

Felician controlled the game with a pair of multi-run innings, finishing with five runs on seven hits.

After two scoreless innings, Felician broke through in the third. Alyson Walling singled to start the inning, and after a bunt and an error loaded the bases, Kimberly Torres delivered a two-run double. Karina De La Vega followed with an RBI groundout to make it 3–0.

The Falcons added on in the fifth. Brielle Cubala launched a solo home run, and later in the inning Torres doubled again and came around to score on a sacrifice fly from Mikayla Brown to extend the lead to 5–0.

Kimberly Torres paced the offense with two doubles and two RBI, while Brielle Cubala added a home run and an RBI. Alyson Walling collected two hits, and Karina De La Vega drove in a run.

Kelsey Vitalis delivered a complete-game performance, allowing just one run on four hits while working through five walks to close out the sweep.
