Box Score 2 CALDWELL, N.J. -- Playing on the road for the first time since its 14-game trip to southen California, the Felician College softball team lost both ends of a doubleheader to host Caldwell College, 9-2 and 3-2, on Friday afternoon at Caldwell Field. Felician sophomore third-baseman Carissa Trujillo (Fresno, CA) went 4 for 5 with two walks and scored twice in the twinbill.
Caldwell (14-5, 4-0) scored in all six of its offensive innings in Game 1, breaking open a 3-2 game with a two-run fourth. The Cougars tacked on a run in the fifth and three-more in the sixth.
The Golden Falcons (2-22, 0-6) received an RBI single in the second inning from Grace Keller (Hoboken, NJ), and Trujillo scored on a throwing error in the fourth. Trujillo and Ciera Clark (Granite Bay, CA) had two hits apiece for Felician, with Tori Bradburn (Ridge, MD) pitching a complete game and taking the loss.
Caldwell hurler Kourtney Wilson (Islip, NY) worked around eight hits, giving up one earned run while striking out four and walking none.
Felician left nine runners on base, and had another cut down at home plate, in Game 2. Nevertheless, behind the right arm of Kristen Tenwolde (Ramona, CA), the Golden Falcons led, 2-1, after five innings.
In the Caldwell sixth, after a walk and an infield hit, freshman Briana Gaspich (Brick, NJ) lined a two-out double to right-center, scoring both runners to give the Cougars the lead. Felician's Joelle Erickson (Huntington Beach, CA) led off the top of the seventh with a triple, but the Golden Falcons could not push the tying run across, leaving the bases loaded.
Tenwolde allowed six hits in a complete-game effort, striking out two and walking two. Clark drove in both Felician runs with a second-inning double, and Trujillo was 2 for 2 with two intentional walks. Gaspich finished 3 for 3 for the Cougars, and freshman left-hander Sarah Almasy (Stratford, NJ) worked into and out of trouble in the complete-game victory.
