Box Score Nutley, NJ - Felician split its CACC Tournament opening round against Jefferson on Saturday, powered by a dominant Game One performance before falling in a shortened Game Two.
Game One
Felician controlled the game from the outset, finishing with five runs on six hits behind a complete performance in all phases.
The tone was set immediately in the first inning. Mikayla Brown reached base and Brielle Cubala followed by driving a two-run home run to give Felician an early lead. The Falcons added on in the third when Brown delivered a two-run home run of her own, extending the advantage to 4–1.
Cubala struck again in the fifth, launching her second home run of the game to provide an insurance run and cap Felician's scoring.
Brielle Cubala led the way with a perfect 2-for-2 performance, accounting for three RBI on two home runs, while Mikayla Brown added two hits, including a home run, and two RBI. Felician finished with six hits, three of which left the yard.
In the circle, Jocelyn Moody went the distance, allowing three runs on eight hits while maintaining control throughout to secure the win.
Game Two
Felician showed resilience in the second game, battling back to erase an early deficit before the game shifted late, ultimately falling 14–4 in five innings.
After falling behind early, the Falcons answered in the third inning. Kailey Alas sparked the rally with a triple, Annika Smith followed with an RBI single, and Mikayla Brown added a run-scoring double. Hannah Ramirez capped the inning with a two-RBI single, tying the game at 4–4.
The game turned in the fifth, where Jefferson used a big inning to regain control and extend the lead, bringing the contest to an early end under the mercy rule.
Hannah Ramirez drove in two runs during the rally, while Kailey Alas and Annika Smith each contributed key hits in the inning. Felician totaled six hits in the game.One of those hits would etch Kim Torres' name into the record books, making her Felician's single season hits leader with sixty-eight hits.
Felician used multiple pitchers in the circle, with Skye Limardo providing length in the middle innings before Kelsey Vitalis took over as the game shifted late.
